No less than four Seaton players are featuring in the Semi-Finals of the DCCA Online Winter Grand Prix.
The Grand-Prix ran between 18th January and 26 February 2021, and incorporating six 9+3 Rapid and six 5+2 Blitz events. A player’s “Grand-Prix score” was calculated based on a player's best three results in both styles of event. The final standings can be found here.
We are now in the Semi-Final knock-out stage with Paul Hampton and Jon Underwood competing in the Championship and Steve Dean and Charlie Keen in the Graded (U160) event.

Seaton Chess Club were pleased to host Gloucester Chess Club Wotton Hall in an online 10 board friendly match on 26th January 2021. The match involved 2 back to back games of 30 minutes + 10 seconds increment.
We lost the first round 3.5-6.5 but managed to tie the second 5-5 so well done all.
Seaton player Steve Dean has gone on to win the graded section of the Autumn Grand Prix to complete the double with his mini-Swiss victory and adds a second virtual trophy to the club's cabinet. The Grand Prix was competed over several tournaments where players accumulated points to qualify for the play-off phase involving a dramatic knock-out - broadcast live with expert commentary! Well done Steve!
Seaton player continue to dominate in the Devon online chess competitions with a number of outstanding achievements:
Steve Dean has won the Major (U160) Autumn mini-swiss competition and he goes on to compete in the Finals of the Autumn Grand-Prix Graded Title.

Seaton players Jon Underwood and Paul Hampton were in action on Saturday 22nd August 2020 in the Major Open Final of the ECF online County Championships against the formidable 9-times champions Yorkshire.
Devon won the fixture 8.5 - 6.5 in a historic victory as no West Country side has ever won a county first-team title in 100 years of trying.
