Invitations are now out for a series of Devon wide individual Competitions:
- The Devon Championship for players grade 170 and over
- The Intermediate Championship for players grade 140-169
- The Minor Championship for players grade 139 or under
- Ladies Championship - no grade limit

The competitions are open to ECF members and run between Nov 2018 and May 2019 and are generally held at weekends at player's homes or at a club.

On the 3rd December 2017, a Seaton contingent of 4 made the journey down to play in the 4th Plymouth Rapidplay and enjoyed some excellent results.
Paul won the competition with 5/6 and Jon came joint 2nd with 4.5/6. Steve wasn't far behind with 4/6 and joint 4th place.

Seaton entered a team on Sunday 29th October 2017 in the DCCA Team Blitz. This is a 6 round tournament with teams of 4 and 12 minute time control for all moves. The event was very well attended with 15 teams entering and a strong field including IM Jack Rudd playing board 1 for Bideford. Despite an early promising start with a 4/4 victory first round, the team faded somewhat in later rounds. Full results can be found here.

Seaton players were in action in the South Bristol Rapidplay held in Whitchurch on 12th August 2017. This was a 6 round competition with 25 minutes for each player split into two section of 16 players - one the Open and the second an grade restricted Major. Seaton enjoyed some success in the Open with Paul Hampton coming 3rd with 4/6 and Jon Underwood coming 5th with 3/6. Full results can be found here.
